Cultural and Touristic Cooperation in the border region
(Short project name: Cross-Cultural Tool-Kit, code: HUHR/1901/3.1.2/0159)

The Municipality of Lenti submitted a tender “Jointly development of new, innovative joined structures and shared processes to ensure the continuity of co-operation in the field of Culture and Tourism in the cross-regions ” within the framework of the Interreg VA Hungary-Croatia Cooperation Program 2014-2020 (Ensuring the continuation of cultural and tourism cooperation in the border region through newly developed innovative structures and processes) (Short project title: Cross-Cultural Tool-Kit, code number: HUHR / 1901 / 3.1.2 / 0159). The project started on 1st October 2020. and will last 20 months. The total budget of the project is € 199,240, out of which the European Union is funding € 169,354.

The project represents a cooperation between the Municipality of Lenti (lead beneficiary) and Mursko Središće (Croatia), as a beneficiary. The aim of the partnership is to ensure and support coordinated communication processes, to ensure continuous cooperation and communication between citizens and various sectors, interest groups and NGOs through jointly developed strategy of tourism, promotion of tourism and communication plan, cultural events together with the developed “toolbox”. The beneficiaries aim to develop an effective and sustainable longterm partnership between the cultural communities in the border area. In order to achieve this goal a strategy and a so-called, a cultural toolkit will be developed and it will contain the development of a common competency map, database, common image, the appearance of promotional products and videos and the organisation of various events.

The commitments include the organization of market research, an opening conference on the Hungarian side and the organization of two workshops on the topic of building cultural strategy and the development of toolboxes for culture and tourism. During the project, a total of 11 large-scale thematic events will be organized by the partners, where representatives of the cultural sphere, NGOs, associations, artisans and artists can exhibit their products and present their services in order to promote interaction, networking within and between sectors and long-term cooperation between the participants of the culture and tourism.

The Municipality of Lenti undertook to organize and promote 6 large-scale thematic events in the during the project. The programs include traditionally organized programs, but with new events it is also possible to create new traditions. According to the participating partners, cooperation helps to maintain the cultural tradition of the region, to introduce new, innovative cultural programs, and thus to develop the touristic attractioons of two regions.
